Salone Del Mobile, the design fair in Milan, was the most exciting event I’ve been to recently. Design is surprising, clever, beautiful and, when done right, a little bit magical. I discovered pieces I never knew I needed and I’m pretty sure I redesigned my house in my mind a hundred times over the course of 4 days, swapping lighting, fabrics and objects as I went.
Then, of course, you’re in Italy, in Milan, where every space is beautifully curated, from the smallest cafés to the most luxurious showrooms. And the crowd, obviously, effortlessly cool. It’s hard not to be drawn in. I won’t even mention the food as this will require a whole new post.
In the meantime, here are a few favourites I wish I could take home one day or just some inspiration for my future dream homes.
Everything by 6:AM Glass
This is the first show I saw when I arrived in Milan and it was definitely one of my favourites. 6:AM the Milan-based studio installed Murano glass lamps and other objects in unfinished showers located in the basement of the 1930s Piscina Cozzi in the center of the city. Discovering the location was an experience in itself, you immediately entered a different world and each piece hidden in the shower stalls was a hidden gem.

Everything at Gelateria Danese by Georg Jensen
When I saw that Georg Jensen had opened a pop-up ice cream café during Salone, under the new creative direction of Paul Garbese, I couldn’t wait to go. Their new collection, part of the Artisans Collection, reimagines classic ice cream and coffee serveware in sterling silver. And it is to die for. I loved every piece. If I could drink coffee and eat ice cream like this every day, I’d be a very happy woman (please take note).

Natalia Criado’s Table
Milan-based Natalia Criado connects contemporary designs with craftsmanship and creates these playful, jewellery-like objects for the table. This year for Salone, the designer styled a table at Taller Marmo. Believe me when I say, you will want pieces you never knew you needed, like this very sexy Martini glass (see below).

Lighting at Bocci
Bocci is a discovery for me (very late to the party, I know…) but I really cannot stop thinking about these lights. Unexpected and sculptural, they are on top of my wish list, even if I’ve got no idea where I’d put them.

Sofia Zevi Dreamy Interiors Curation
Milan’s own Sofia Zevi showcased a striking selection of contemporary glassware by Akira Hara and space-age lighting by The Back Studio, among others. But what truly stood out were the cabinet lined with the always elegant Chiarastella Cattana fabrics. The doors were closed, inviting you to open them and discover what was inside. In one, a green Torchon mirror, mounted in Venini Murano glass and designed by Carlo Scarpa in the 1930s.

Lights Installation by Michael Anastassiades
I’ll just say that I would take one of each, thank you! More information here.

Other Finds
The only outside furniture you’ll ever need by Yaniv Chen for Lemon exhibited at Alcova.

Faye Toogood hand-painted one by one her new Rose collection onto porcelain in a ceramics studio in Nagoya, Japan at the Noritake Factory. Noritake is one of Japan’s first modern ceramic tableware makers.

Beautiful vases by Ronan Bouroullec at Officine Saffi.
I’ll end this list with a quirky, somehow reassuring and surprising installation at Alcova by Chelebi, showcasing Azerbaijani artistry, offering a curated selection of decorative objects. Each piece tells a story of heritage and innovation, seamlessly blending ancient techniques with modern aesthetics. A great discovery.

I could continue listing more and more but I’ll keep some finds for upcoming edits :)
Stay cosy, until next time!
