Silver is having a moment, or maybe it’s just me. Consider this as the mood board for the tablescape I’m dreaming of but have yet to create.
I was lucky enough to grow up in a home where tablescaping wasn’t just for an occasion, but a way of life. I’ve always loved the drama of old-school, Versailles-style opulence, but I never really wanted it in my own space. Lately, though, I find myself obsessing over silver, especially candlesticks. There’s something about them on a table. They instantly set a mood, somewhere between elegance and decadence. But, if I’m being honest (hence this moodboard), this whole aesthetic feels a little intimidating.
Minimalism? I’ve got it down. Bold colors? Love them. Prints and patterns? Slowly mastering them. But a full-on silver-focused table? That’s new territory for me.
With silver comes the hunt for the pieces. It’s fun and never ends. I started buying pieces online and in flea markets, but it never seems to be enough. My tables always need something new, depending on the mood: am I going for very traditional, borderline strict, or am I looking for a more lavish, extravagant style? And that’s what makes it fun.
I’ve put together a curated selection of pieces that I love. Find it here with below a little sneak peak.

I started buying antique serving spoons, it was the easiest and I moved on to serving plates and now I focus on accessories for my table. Pieces that will add a vibe. I love the idea of having small silver bowls all over the table with chocolates or fruits part of the tablescape.
There is a timeless elegance that comes with silver whether it’s modern:

… or antique:

When it comes to tablescapes with silverware, there aren’t strict rules, but there are a few guiding principles that help bring everything together. Think of them as a framework—not something to follow to the letter, but a way to keep things feeling balanced while still letting your creativity flow.
The art of layering different textures and styles
Layering different textures and styles is the secret to make anything, tablescapes, interiors and even outfits, feel personal, rich and thought through. It’s all about the details. A great source of inspiration is Omer Gilony—her tablescapes feel like stepping into a whole other world, dreamy and unexpected in the best way.

Candlesticks and lighting
I have a thing for candlesticks. There’s something about candlelight that instantly transforms a table, making everything feel warmer, more intimate, inviting people to linger. The trick is in the mix: different heights, shapes, and different styles. A delicate taper in a heavy silver holder, a bold sculptural piece next to something antique, it’s these little details that create depth and rhythm. The right lighting doesn’t just brighten the table; it sets the entire mood for the night.
Play with glass, porcelain (and crystal if you can)
Glass, porcelain, and crystal just work with silver, they always have. There’s something about the mix that feels timeless but never outdated. Try layering them up, a glass charger under a porcelain plate, chunky-cut crystal next to polished silverware will make your table much more interesting. Mixing old and new pieces makes the table feel collected rather than overly styled.
A couple of final thoughts on silver.
On top hunting, silver also comes with the less glamorous task of cleaning your pieces. This might be strange, (I’m sure some people will recognise themselves too), I actually enjoy cleaning silver, I find it very satisfying… You just need the right product.
If you're thinking of starting a collection, my advice is to begin with small pieces: serving spoons and trays. They’re easy to find in flea markets, easy to use and a great way to dive into silver without feeling overwhelmed.
I’ve also started keeping a running list of what I actually need, so when I’m out hunting, I have some direction. Otherwise, browsing can turn into a never-ending rabbit hole (a fun one, but still).
I’ll be working on a silver tablescape soon and will share the pictures. Let’s see how it goes! Actually silver isn’t as intimidating as I thought. It’s just about finding the right pieces, trusting my taste and the mix I will create and always, always, have candles around!
