2025, The Year I Skip Resolutions
And a curated edit of my favorite essentials for a cozy night in
Every new year, we all get bombarded with questions about what our resolutions are, what we’re going to change, what we need to improve, or what we expect from the year to come. I’ve always found those questions super stressful. For one, I don’t wait the beginning of the year to make changes in my life. And sure, like anyone, I have dreams and wishes, but not ones I want to share out loud. And, in true New Year’s resolution cliché fashion, I always go for the usual gym focus, work focus, self-improvement answers that, let’s be honest, feel like I’m just ticking off a list.
So I want my 2025 to be more about making space for little shifts and embracing the things I already have, without the pressure to constantly level up. This year, I want to focus on loving what’s already here.
There's something refreshing, and yes, I’ll admit, very cliché, about saying we want to embrace the everyday, appreciate the small victories, and enjoy life's simple pleasures. But let’s be honest, saying it is easy; committing to it is where the real challenge lies. Granted, this is a sort of resolution as well but it’s all about what we have and not looking for more.
For those who know me, letting go isn't exactly my strong suit. Yet this year, I’m making an intentional choice to let life unfold at its own pace. I've learned that sometimes, the most profound changes happen quietly.
And since this year is all about appreciating the present and creating a sense of peace at home, I wanted to share some of my favourite things for a night in.
Bath Salts by Wilder Botanics
One of my favourite feel good ritual is a bath. I’m not one to stay in for ages but the feeling of being in hot water is really one of the things that really relaxes me. These bath salts not only smell delicious but they have this very cute pink colour.
A Very Good Bathrobe
This might be oversharing but one of my absolute favourite thing to do is to get out of my bath or a shower, put a bathrobe and dry slowly on my bed while catching up on the news, reading my book… When I have time, a bath and this little drying routine is my favourite self-care. So obviously a bathrobe is essential.
A Kindle
… and a couple of good books to start the year
I’ve noticed that when I’m reading consistently and at a good pace, my mind always feel at peace. To keep that momentum, I’ve adopted a self-imposed rule: I give each book 50 to 80 pages. If I’m not into it by then, I set it aside and move on to another.
It’s a rule much easier to stick to with a Kindle as you need to make sure you have a good list of books, readily available. I never thought I’d be a Kindle person but trust me, if you like to read, it makes life so much easier.
Interestingly, setting books aside doesn’t mean abandoning them forever. More often than not, I find myself returning to them later. Sometimes, it’s just about timing, like most things in life :)
A couple of books I’ve read in 2024 that I think you should add to your reading list:
A Hot Water Bottle
Trust me, I get it, the hot water bottle can feel like a neon sign to being an old lady. But hear me out. On those nights where you are need of some cosiness, a hot water bottle in bed or while watching a movie is the best feeling.
Still not convinced? Let me share a little wellness secret I learnt during a detox week at Buchinger a few years ago: placing a hot water bottle on your liver for 30 minutes can help stimulate its function (basically it helps detoxing it)!
Plus you can pick your style. Which one will you go for? The stripey one or the one with a cover made from recycled wool.

A Chic Pyjama Set
When it comes to PJs, I guess there are two main teams: silk or cotton. But the truth is, the options go beyond just fabrics. Are you team pants or team shorts? T-shirts or button-up shirts? Or maybe you're the naked type.
Whatever you prefer, we all need something cozy and chic to hang out at home. This one looks and feels great. It also comes in a great packaging. You’ll see :)
A Healthy And Wholesome Snack - My Apple Compote Recipe
It always hits the spot and feels like you’re a kid again. You can also have it for breakfast with yoghurt. And it’s super easy to make. I try to always have some in my fridge for my guests or myself.
INGREDIENTS
6-8 golden apples
1/2 orange
1 bag of sucre vanillé or 7g of sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Peel and roughly chop 6 to 8 golden apples. Place the chopped apples in a pot and add a sachet of sucre vanillé (or the other option) along with the juice of half an orange. Cover the pot and cook over medium heat for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are soft and fragrant.
If you prefer a smooth compote without apple chunks, blend the mixture using a hand blender until silky.
Don’t forget a nice cup of chamomile tea or my favorite: fresh ginger with lemon. For the ginger tea, I recommend scraping the ginger and adding a few chunks for a full-bodied flavor, it makes all the difference!
Stay cosy until next time!
A Very Good Post...:)
